FX Legal is a commercial law firm that specializes in advising and representing clients in the areas of IT (information technology), media and marketing. Our lawyers are experts in Internet and e-commerce law, particularly in contract, competition, copyright and data protection law. Due to our long-standing experience and our focus on the Internet industry, we can provide competent support to companies of all sizes.
What defines us is our deep understanding of our clients’ specific technical and commercial requirements. Our consultation does not stop once we have answered the client’s legal questions. Rather, we discuss with our clients the impact that decisions can have on their company. Only those who are aware of the legal risks and understand the economic implications can ultimately arrive at a reasonable solution.
We know that fast and effective communication is essential for our clients. That’s why we speak to our contacts as equals and in a way that our clients understand. Quickly, comprehensibly and pragmatically.
The aim of our advice is always to find an economically viable solution for the client. This is not always the most obvious legal approach. We know that companies are usually not interested in long, incomprehensible expert opinions that do not result in a solution. That is why we only prepare such assessments if this is expressly requested. As a rule, however, we try to develop pragmatic solutions together with our clients, without unnecessary detours. We believe that focusing on the essentials is ultimately the most sustainable approach.
During his studies, Christos Paloubis was concerned with the then new medium of the Internet and the associated legal issues. As a student, he organized seminars on Internet law for the Online Provider Association e.V. (formerly BTX Provider Association) as early as 1997. During his legal clerkship, he was able to deepen his knowledge in New York at iName.com, Inc. where he mainly dealt with domain law issues.
Following his second state examination, Christos Paloubis became the Managing Director of the Online Providers Association. He later worked as General Counsel at the Munich-based Interway AG and at uboot.com in Switzerland. At the same time, Christos Paloubis has been working as an independent lawyer since 2000, initially at Willfort Rechtsanwälte in Munich and since 2008 under his own name.
Both in his work for companies and in his legal practice, he has always focused on all legal issues relating the new media, in particular internet law, copyright law, competition law, telecommunications law and data protection law. In various positions, he has repeatedly supported the founding and development of young Internet companies, e.g. as a member of the board of POLIXEA AG from 2006 to 2008.
Christos Paloubis teaches as a lecturer at SDI Munich (www.sdi-muenchen.de) and runs the blog Internetrecht München (www.internetrecht-muenchen.com).
He speaks Greek, English, French and Italian.
During his studies, he already focused on competition law, intellectual property and media law. At the commercial law firm Berliner, Corcoran & Rowe LLP in Washington, D.C., he gained an insight into US law, particularly in the areas of intellectual property and corporate law.
Since the beginning of his legal career, he has focused primarily on the areas of e-commerce, marketing and media. He supports start-ups in the legally compliant design of their business models and advises companies on day-to-day issues. Through online marketing, his focus shifted more and more towards data protection. Today, his greatest expertise lies in this intersection between competition and data protection law, in particular in legal issues relating to tracking, ads, remarketing and direct marketing.
Felix Gebhard has been a certified data protection officer (DSB-TÜV SÜD) since October 2017. He regularly teaches and lectures on the topic of data protection, for example in OMR Deep Dives.
He speaks English and Spanish.
